Defend Fife Launched
As “Defend Dunfermline WW2” moves into its 2nd year the team is showcasing at Dunfermline ComicCon extra elements to add depth & drama to our comic book: ‘SECRET WAR A Surprising History Comic’
Comic book co-creators Roger Pickering & Gordon Somers will be on hand to sign your copy & answer questions (sorry, did I promise depth & drama?)
The Defend Dunfermline exhibition will be displayed on stage in the Pavilion behind our table. Exhibition guidebooks will be on sale too (the history behind the story)
Outside the Pavilion we will have a team of volunteers from Fife College building Page 2 of the comic, IN CONCRETE !
(A ton of concrete)
This exercise in experimental archaeology (supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund) will recreate the missing 4th anti-tank cube from the Home Guard road block that had defended Pittencrieff Road in 1940.
Also meet Dean Bowen of Homefront Histories & a small band of WW2 military re-enactors. They will pose for pictures, explain & depict how these secret anti-invasion defences of Dunfermline were designed to blunt the expected Blitzkrieg.
Finally, if you enjoyed Defend Dunfermline on the High Street in August (or were sad you missed it) you will receive a copy of our 2018 festival flyer:
“DEFEND FIFE” incorporating “Defend Dunfermline” September 29th & 30th.
On two sites: Dunfermline city centre and at Lathalmond. The 45 acre site with the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum & Lathalmond Train museum (Shed 47)
